The Foundry by Rareform Audio: Professional Sound Tools for Composers and Producers
The FoundryThe Foundry is a new line of professional instruments, sounds, and production tools from Rareform Audio, built for composers and producers working across film, trailers, television, games, and modern music production.
The idea behind The Foundry is pretty simple: take the kinds of sounds, instruments, and production techniques we use in our own work and turn them into tools that other composers and producers can actually use.
The first collections are already here, with more in development.
Where The Foundry Came From
The Foundry started as a side project for Rareform Audio founder Nathan Fields.
After spending years composing for film, television, and trailers, Nathan became increasingly interested in building instruments and sound libraries of his own. What started as a hobby eventually turned into something much bigger.
Over the past several months, that meant recording sounds, editing samples, building instruments in Kontakt, designing interfaces, creating graphics, and figuring out how all of it could become a cohesive line of products.
The result is The Foundry.
The goal isn't to build a huge catalog for the sake of having one. It's to make useful tools around sounds and techniques that we actually like working with.
Echelon: Collection 001
The first Foundry collection is Echelon, a trailer-focused series built around modern cinematic music.
Echelon covers hard-hitting drums, cinematic impacts, pulsing synths, braams, textures, transitions, and other sound design tools for composers and producers working in action, thriller, sci-fi, and hybrid cinematic music.
The collection currently includes two releases.
Echelon: Cinematic Synths & FX
Echelon: Cinematic Synths & FX combines Serum presets with matching WAV renders and a collection of foundational trailer effects.
The Synth Suite includes 127 custom presets for Serum 1 and Serum 2, covering arps, braams, deep hits, downers, glitch FX, leads, pads, pings, pulses, risers, signals, signatures, squeals, sub drops, and textures.
Each preset also has a matching WAV render, along with 21 additional trailer-focused WAV effects.
That brings the collection to 275 production-ready sounds.

Echelon: Drum Hits
The second Echelon release takes things into trailer percussion.
Echelon: Drum Hits is a Kontakt instrument built around aggressive drum hits, hybrid impacts, stomps, claps, toms, metallic slams, and deep low-end strikes.
There are 11 playable Kontakt patches, with up to four round-robin variations per sound. The library also includes 264 standalone WAV files, giving you both playable instruments and individual sounds to work directly into a session.

Origin: Collection 002
Alongside Echelon, The Foundry has a free collection built around a very different source: modular synthesis.
Origin is a growing series of free Kontakt instruments created from modular performances, loops, one-shots, and sampled material.
The first Origin collection, Bundle v1, includes three instruments: Mod-Perc, Mod-Keys, and Mod-Tones.
Mod-Perc
Raw modular percussion, unstable pulses, static-warped loops, and rhythmic textures built from Eurorack performances.
Mod-Keys
A modular piano transformed into four playable voicings, ranging from clean and intimate sounds to more processed and cinematic tones.
Mod-Tones
Granular pads, drones, loops, and tonal textures shaped from raw Eurorack performances.
The instruments also include six built-in effects: low-pass, hi-pass, distortion, delay, reverb, and tape.
Origin Bundle v1 is available as a free download and requires Kontakt 7.7.3 or newer. It is not compatible with the free Kontakt Player.
What's Next
The Foundry is still getting started.
More Echelon releases are in development, along with additional Origin instruments and entirely new collections.
Some will be built around cinematic production. Others may head somewhere completely different.
That's part of the point.
The Foundry gives us a place to experiment with sounds, instruments, and production ideas that we want to spend time building, then turn those ideas into tools that composers and producers can actually use.
